What to tell us first
Send a short description of what happened, when and where it happened, and the best way to contact you. If you know the product or substance involved, include its name. Photos may help, but do not put yourself at risk to collect evidence.
Please avoid sending medical records, identity documents or other people's personal information in your first email. We will discuss what further detail is useful and how to share it.
What happens next
Our team will review your message and respond as capacity allows. Reporting to UnPoison does not replace a report to a health professional, emergency service or responsible authority. We cannot provide emergency medical care.
Municipal spraying in Cape Town?
The City of Cape Town publishes its weed-spraying schedules, operating protocol and a contraventions complaint form on its weed-spraying information page. The City asks residents to email the completed form and safely collected supporting evidence to contact.us@capetown.gov.za. You may also send UnPoison a brief first account so we can understand the pattern of concern.
Possible poisoning or urgent exposure? Seek medical help promptly. The South African Poisons Information Helpline is 0861 555 777. It is listed by the University of Cape Town Poisons Information Centre.
